The actors are ready to tread the boards in the Communication Cord, a farce by Brian Friel, directed by Peter Davey, which will be staged in St Brigid's Hall on Saturday and Sunday, February 8, and 9, at 8 p.m.
The cast includes Frank Brennan, Shane Loftus, Mary Barry-Leonard, Terri Brennan, Eamonn Gallagher, Claire McLoughlin, Shane Keyes and Catriona Coleman. Stage management is in the capable hands of Peter Molloy assisted by Jimmy Coleman, Mark Dunne and Mickey Curran. Padraic Gillespie makes a welcome return to the group as sound man - in more ways than one. Lighting is by Seán Johnston and Benny Henry and costumes by Ursula Brennan. Lorraine Fitzgerald is also welcomed to the backstage crew. Special guests for Sunday night's performance will be the cast, director and crew of the 1985 production of this play.
On stage for St Valentine's weekend are Cloonacool Players in Sam Cree's 'Don't Tell the Wife'. Set in 1960s Belfast in the Willis household, Mrs Willis is convinced her plumber husband is chasing other women. The hilarious comedy leads to crazy misunderstandings, involving a French lodger, a male escort, a corporation officer and a long-legged female named Bridget. Make sure to see this great comedy at Cloonacool Community Centre February 14 to February 16 at 8 p.m.

The Avalon Centre operates a Preschool and School age Childcare Service called Bright Minds. Our parent and toddler group takes place on Monday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to midday. Parents, grandparents and carers are all welcome. There is always a warm welcome with tea, coffee and refreshments provided. €3 per family.
We are currently running a Little Bakers Club for children age 6-10 and a Magic Workshop for 10 years+ on Tuesday night. Both of these clubs will run for a six-week period and we intend to introduce more activity clubs in the future so stay tuned.
Our Youth Clubs have resumed. Our Junior Youth Club meets on Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Senior Youth Club meets on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Avalon Centre Bowling Club meets every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the centre. Just call in on the day.
Bingo continues every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle and a 50/50 draw on the night.

Meeting re Culfadda Hall
Regular meetings are taking place in Culfadda National school to discuss a proposal for the complete refurbishment of the dilapidated hall in Culfadda and the hope to turn the hall into a vibrant community centre that the people of the locality and beyond can enjoy.
All groups and individuals are asked to bring forward any ideas they may have for the use of a new community centre, and everyone is very welcome to submit ideas for events and activities they may like to see taking place in the future in a modernised building. Parents of school going children are asked to attend with a view to setting up a before/after school and homework club in the future. Everyone's opinion welcome.

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated our school Grandparents Day on Tuesday, January 28. Thank you to everyone who helped with baking, treats, tea and coffee and gave our special visitors a beautiful warm welcome. Thank you to Fr Tom for leading the celebration and a special thank you to the staff and children of our school for their lovely poems and songs.
In My Shoes 2020 is taking place this year for the week of February 3 to February 7. All boys/girls' football boots, trainers, runners in ages 4-16 and in good conditions can be brought to the school before the seventh.
The Maugherow Community Games forms are currently available in Dunleavys Shop or may be obtained by contacting maugherow Community Games Facebook page or 087 7182363. These forms need to be returned ASAP.
The art competition will be held in St Patrick's School Maugherow on Saturday, February 15, at 11 a.m., children need to bring their own paints/colours, paper will be supplied.

February Social Dance
