Street art comes to Adelaide car park
There was a funky vibe in the city centre on Saturday as a group of artists decided to brighten up the Adelaide car-park.
The art jam was organised by the Sligo Tidy Towns. Des Faul, from the committee, said that artists from Belfast, Kilkenny and Dublin took part, along with local girl Marian Noone.
"We were looking for quality work, not graffiti. All the guys are well known in their field.
"We wanted a big, long wall and we got permission from the council to use Adelaide car-park.
"The reaction from people has been good.
"There is a youth vibe in that area, we wanted something different from the Yeats mural, which was more serious."
More murals are in the pipeline too, with Des adding that they are currently looking for an ideal place to create a homage to Westlife
"They sold more records than the Beatles, so it is only right.
"It is about getting the ideal spot, where people can stand beside and take selfies," he added.
