Tireragh musicians to the fore at the All Ireland Fleadh
Congratulations to Ceoltoiri Tireragh musicians in West Sligo who won the Senior Grupa Cheoil competition in the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Drogheda.
Having competed at the highest level with groups from the four provinces of Ireland, UK and USA the young group of musicians celebrated their win having been 2nd and 3rd prizewinners for the past two years. Damien and Jason McGuinness won the Senior Duet competition and Jason McGuinness received 3rd place in the senior Fiddle Competition. Members of the Tireragh Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, they learned Irish traditional music in the West Sligo village of Dromore West where they continue to pass on the love of Irish music to younger musicians. Chairperson of the branch said: "this is a huge achievement for a local rural area and stressed how local community groups working together is the foundation for success at national level. We are all so proud of the group some of whom teach in music classes and groups who will continue to bring back titles to the area."
Tireragh Branch of CCÉ is hosting an information and registration evening for music classes on Sat 7th Sept at 7.30 in Dromore West Community Centre. All Welcome.
