Sligo Live gets a €15,000 boost

Sligo Live is to get €15,000 under Fáilte Ireland's 2019 National Festival Programme,

The funding was announced by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin. As part of the tourism development authority's efforts to use festivals to drive tourism growth in the off-peak season. Sligo Live takes place each October.

Sligo has also been identified as one of the locations for the development of celebrations for 'St Patrick's Week in Ireland'. Fáilte Ireland identified festivals as a key component for tourism growth, particularly during off-season times in its plans for 2019. Sligo Live board member, Cllr Marie Casserly has welcomed the funding and that allocated for the St. Patrick's Day festival.

"I am delighted that Sligo has been chosen as one of the seven locations chosen for extra funding to extend the festival into a week long celebration. Thanks to Failte Ireland and the Dept of Tourism for this funding as they recognise and acknowledge the hard work that voluntary committees carry out to make the event so enjoyable for so many."
