New Zealand artist in local exhibition
Sligo's art lovers are in for a treat when well known contemporary artist Amy Hoedemakers opens her most recent exhibition of paintings entitled 'Between the lights'.
Amy, currently living in Sligo, is originally from Oxford, New Zealand and is a Graduate of Visual Fine Arts from the Nelson Institute of Art. She has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Ireland and is currently artist in residence at Allingham Studios in Ballyshannon.
Her work is a unique marriage of abstract landscapes and is proving to be a big hit with Irish art lovers and buyers.
Amy says "Between the lights' is an exhibition that explores the essence of landscape, sky and sea in an abstract way.
"There is an emotional quality to my art. Painting for me reflects what is going on in my life is some form or another. The act of painting and the processes are equally as important to me as the finished work. 'Between the lights' embraces colour and life and it's an exhibition I hope everyone will enjoy".
The exhibition opened at Café Society, Teeling St. Sligo last Wednesday and runs until January 14th. Ten per cent of all sales will go towards the fundraising efforts of the Sligo Rape Crisis Centre.
