Fourteen couples took to the stage at the Radisson Blu in Sligo last Friday for Sligo Rugby Club's biggest ever fundraiser.

'Strictly Sligo Rugby' brought together 28 willing volunteers who danced off to raise funds for Sligo Rugby Club.

Well known local businessman Eamonn Cunningham of EJs and his dancing partner Monica McElhinney were crowned the winners on the night.

Around 800 people attended the event on the night, exceeding initial expectations.

The event was run with the help of Kevin Rowe Events,

Jean McConnell, PRO of Sligo Rugby Club, told The Sligo Champion: "It was fantastic. The staging company said it was one of the most successful events they have run.

The money raised from the event will go towards completing the next phase of development of facilities at the rugby club.

Club Chairman, Michael O'Hehir outlined the developments completed to date and the ambition the club has for the future.

"We are determined to develop a set of facilities here at the club, which will compete with the best in the country," he said.
