'It's about turning 42 and the things I got up to last year'
PJ Gallagher is one of Ireland's best loved comedians and after two decades of stand-up comedy he is returning to the Hawk's Well Theatre with his brand new routine.
While the title of his routine is bound to rattle a few cages, D**khead is nothing as it seems and is in fact all about him, pigeons and a few digs at some well-known Irish people.
"It's about me and all of the ridiculous things I got up to over the last year. It's about turning 42 and how I'm different from what my parents were at this age: I'm hanging with my dogs and a motorbike," said PJ.
Having launched a number of tours in Sligo in previous years he is looking forward to coming back and connecting with the audience.
"The title is a little bit out there, but we are asked for the name before the show is even written, so I said I was just going to go with it as there is a little bit of D**khead in all of us," he said.
Not one to take himself too serious, the comedian explains that his Sligo gig will be 'untested' rehearsing only a few routines at smaller gigs.
"It is a work in progress. Small gigs are like the gym, working them out and the likes of the Hawk's Well -that's your match. But ultimately you just hope for the best" he said.
After the roaring success of his starting role in 'The Young Offenders' and his radio show with Classic Hits 4FM there is no end in sight to his many talents.
You can see PJ live in the Hawk's Well Theatre on Friday April 28th at 8.00pm. Tickets are €20 and are available from the Box Office on: 071-91-61518 or www.hawkswell.com
