Hawk's Well renovation fund raises over €100,000 so far

At the start of the year it was announced that the Hawk's Well theatre has been successful in securing €550,000 in capital funding from The Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD.

This money has been pledged but will only become available once the same amount of money has been fundraised by the theatre. Fundraising initiatives have been ongoing throughout the year and the theatre would like to thank the public for their support to date as €130,000 has been raised so far this year.

West Coast Orthodontics have just come on board as renovation patrons of the theatre. The theatre launched a new 'Renovation Patron' scheme earlier this year. Michael Flatley and AIB recently became renovation patrons along with a number of individuals and families.

Among the events this year were the following:

The theatre hosted a fundraising auction, Lots at the Well which raised €9,000 for the renovation fund.

Popular musician Kieran Quinn's project 'Our Place' is also raising funds towards the renovation fund. Our Place is original songs inspired by Sligo released as a new album in November. An EP featuring the Six Songs for Sligo, in aid of the Hawk's Well Renovation Fund was launched at the theatre in November and copies of this EP can be purchased at outlets all over Sligo.

In order to raise funds €1 has been added to the price of all tickets sold.

Through the development levy, fundraising events and donations from the public, along with pledged money from Sligo Council, Sligo BID and the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht the theatre will be in a position to complete renovations within three years' time.
