Entertaining Sligo

Chicago - Pop Up Theatre Sligo are excited to announce the brilliantly talented cast for their upcoming production of Chicago taking place in the Hawks Well in 17th - 20th April 2019.

The successful candidates battled it out in a tough audition process before Christmas to take the coveted roles and are now in an intense 3 month rehearsal schedule ahead of the hotly anticipated production. In the principal roles newcomer Laura Kiely will play Roxie Hart the fame hungry murderess desperate to become famous on the back of a cold blooded murder and Maggie Villarini will play vaudeville superstar and fellow murderess Velma Kelly.

Donegal native and Sligo IT Performing Arts student Conor White will play king of the courtroom, the Razzle Dazzle lawyer Billy Flynn, and Brendan Reid plays long suffering husband of Roxie, Amos Hart. Pop Up are excited to also welcome Canadian natives Rachel Patenaude who takes the role of queen of the Cook County Jail Mamma Morton, and Laura Coulter-Low who plays roving reporter Mary Sunshine.

Director Karen Gordon revealed that casting was almost impossible "We had an amazing turnout for auditions, Sligo is truly saturated with talent. We could have cast this production 3 times over. We're thrilled with our final cast line-up, and equally as thrilled to have such a spectacular full cast and crew, we cannot wait to get started. Sligo is in for a really special treat this April!"

Working with the final cast will be a star studded production team involving the cream of Sligo / Donegal talent including Ingrid McLoughlin on Choreography, Herta Kelly as Vocal Director, the Sligo Academy of Music as Orchestra with Niamh Crowley as Musical Director, Barry McKinney on lights and Vinnie Higgins on sound. Pop Up are also proudly associated with Creative Ireland for this exciting project.
