Choral festival hits the right notes!

Sligo was alive this weekend with the sound of music, as the 29th annual Sligo International Choral Festival took place.

With seventy-five entries, twelve competitions and several fringe events, choirs from across the country came to Sligo for the weekend.

The best overall choir was Arklow based Cór na hAbhann in their first ever visit to the Sligo International Choral Festival. Performances took place across many businesses and shops in Sligo town, including The Cat & the Moon and Lyons' Cafe, among others such as the Knocknarea Arena.

Preparations are already in full swing ahead of the 2018 Sligo International Choral Festival, which will be the 30th anniversary of the event - so expect even bigger things at next year's instalment of the hugely popular Sligo International Choral Festival.
