Sligo Champion
Tributes were paid at the Hawk’s Well Theatre last Thursday night to one of the stalwarts of the Sligo music scene for decades.
Stan Burns was subject to a gala farewell concert to celebrate and thank him for his inspiration and contribution to so many lives, both young and old.
In 2013 he fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he founded The Sligo Academy of Music Youth Jazz Orchestra.
His main objective was to show children the enjoyment derived from playing music together, and this has brought joy to many ever since.
The concert featured performances from some of Sligo’s leading young talent such as the Sligo Academy of Music Jazz Orchestra, the Young Jazz All-stars and special guests.
