Wolves snap up Gorey lad
WEXFORD'S INTEREST in the fortunes of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC centres around the presence of Irish international Kevin Doyle in their squad.
And now the Slaneysider is set to be joined by one of the county's promising young sportsmen with the news that Gorey lad Conor Levingston has been snapped up by the Championship club.
The 15-year-old signed a three and a half year contract with Wolves on Saturday last, and under the terms he will become eligible to play with them when he turns 16 in early 2014.
A very talented all-rounder, Conor attracted a lot of attention last month when he travelled to Qatar with an Irish development squad for a tournament.
The news has been greeted with delight in the town of Gorey, while his parents, James and Caroline, have been beaming with pride as they accept the many good wishes being passed on to their son.
Conor is also a key player on the G.A.A. fields and helped the local Naomh Eanna club to an Under-14 All-Ireland Féile success last year.
