Eager Warriors had a ball at home blitz
The Dunbrody Warriors inclusive rugby team from New Ross R.F.C. hosted their home blitz on Sunday, welcoming teams from De La Salle Palmerstown, Seapoint, Greystones and Cill Dara to Southknock.
The blitz was played as a round robin tournament with each team playing in several matches.
The Warriors, who have Lions, Ireland and Leinster star, Tadhg Furlong, as their patron, and who are sponsored by JCE Tyres, were formed about two years ago.
They have played in several blitzes since then, with the highlight being a half-time appearance during the Leinster versus Northampton European Cup match at the Aviva last season.
With squad numbers increasing over the time, the Warriors have significant strength in depth and are able to use a squad rotation system during blitzes to ensure all players get to make their maximum contribution to the team effort.
This, and the increasing skill and fitness levels, was readily apparent to the large group of supporters in attendance on Sunday as the home players exhibited great understanding and co-operation to ensure that the Warriors produced their best performances to date.
All of the visiting players really enjoyed the hospitality (and the food) afforded by New Ross R.F.C., with special thanks due to President, Michael Bailey, and his team of volunteers for running a well-organised event.
The Dunbrody Warriors are anxious to continue their growth and would be pleased to welcome all new members to training in the club grounds every Friday at 10 a.m.
