Fixtures for Minor football tournament

This year's Jim Byrne Cup Minor football competition will get underway on Friday, January 2 when Rathgarogue/Cushinstown and Dunbrody Gaels (Ramsgrange/Horswood) clash at 7.30pm under the lights at Cushinstown with Lar Doyle of Taghmon/Camross as referee.

The following preliminary round games have also been fixed for 2pm on Sunday, January 4 with the first named team having the home venue.

Volunteers vTaghmon/Camross - (Ref: Derek Murphy (St. Martin's); Sarsfields v Glynn/Barntown - Ref: - Jack Stafford (Clongeen); Castletown v Ballinastragh Gaels - Ref: - Paddy Brady (St. Pat's); Naomh Eanna v Shelmaliers - Ref: Eddie O'Sullivan (Kilanerin); Starlights v Bunclody - Ref: Jack French (Davidstown/Courtnacuddy); St. Martin's v Gusserane - Ref: Seamus Whelan (Oylegate/Glenbrien).

Winners of each game to play in first round proper of the Jim Byrne Cup.

Also on January 4 at the Rocks, Maudlintown, St. Mary's take on Clonard with Bob Treacy (Clongeen) as referee.

At Coolree Duffry Rovers take on Ballyhogue. Ref: Aidan O'Brien (Cloughbawn)

On Friday, January 9, the first round of the Jim Byrne Cup competition will be played at 7.30pm under lights in Taghmon where the home team plays Rathgarogue/Cushinstown with Michael Gannon of Horewood as referee.

All Round 1 winners will qualify for a quarter-final place.

All of the following Round 1 games have been fixed for Sunday, January 11 at 2pm with home venue for the first named.

Volunteers v St. Martin's - Ref: - Fintan O'Reilly (Kilmore); Ballyhogue or Duffry Rovers v Sarsfields - Ref: Francis Neville (Shelmaliers); Naomh Eanna V Castletown - Ref: Padraig Byrne (Kilanerin).

At Kilanerin: Ballinastragh Gaels V Bunclody - Ref: Paul Browne (Clonee); Gusserane v Dunbrody Gaels - Ref: Pat Kehoe (Rathgarogue/Cushinstown)

St. Marys Maudlintown or Clonard V Glynn/Barntown - Ref: Barry Redmond; Shelmalier v Starlights - Ref: Brendan Martin (Ballyhogue).

A preliminary round of the O'Loughlin Cup will be played on Sunday, January 11.

Ballyhogue or Volunteers v St. Mary's or Clonard. (Venue and referee to be decided).
