Sunshine and blue skies for Clonroche gymkhana
The organisers of this year's annual Clonroche gymkhana were delighted with the success of the event.
Ideal weather conditions prevailed on the day and that made it all the more enjoyable for those in atendance.
The event attracted competitors from all over the county and in addition to the equestrian aspect of the day there was also a range of fringe activities in place including the ever popular dog show which attracted a huge amount of interest.
Speaking to this newspaper one of the organisers, CJ Doyle, said it was a very successful event.
'We are very grateful to all of the volunteers who helped us out,' he said.
Mr Doyle also acknowledged all of the local businesses and individuals who sponsored the gymkhana and in doing so helped make it an ongoing success.
'This was our 82nd gymkhana and it only every missed one year and that was because of the war,' he said.
The land owner Eddie Kelly was also thanked for providing an ideal venue for the event.
As usual the gymkhana was very much family orientated and Mr Doyle pointed out there were children participating whose grandparents took part when the event was first held over 80 years ago.
