New Ross Singers are back with a big bang in new territory playing rock and pop hits at a special concert at the Horse & Hound in Ballinaboola on Tuesday, June 11.

2018 saw the singers delight audiences with performances of two major classical choral works but summer 2019 has them rocking into classics of the 20th century.

So it's Beatles, Bacharach, Beach Boys, Queen, Cohen, ABBA all the way,

Conductor Connie Tantrum said: 'This is brilliant music with great melodies. These composers brought about huge changes to popular music. They revolutionised it.'

The singers themselves are thoroughly enjoying rehearsals. 'Great songs,' they enthused. 'We love singing them. They've been part of our lives and we're thrilled to be presenting them to an audience whom we know will probably want to sing them too.'

So rock up to the Horse and Hound on Tuesday, June 11, at 8 p.m. and bop to the Beatles, surf to The Beach Boys, embrace your inner Freddie and live again the 60s, 70s, 80s - music that will never die.

Special guests on the night will be The Nomads, well remembered in New Ross and back together for one night only. Tickets cost €15.

'This is definitely an occasion not to be missed! And, most importantly, this concert is a fundraiser for our wonderful and most deserving Community Hospital. Rock on!'
