Plenty of free events for all the family to enjoy

WEXFORD quay is the place to be this weekend as thousands will visit for the 2nd annual John Barry Maritime Festival with main activities starting Friday evening at 5pm when a flotilla of vessels including the Celtic Mist, Customs Cutter, RNLI Lifeboats, Navy vessel and a tall ship will sail in and stay alongside Wexford quay all weekend.

With free family fun for all the family, the weekend promises to be a great event. Highlights include on the water fun where people can try kayaking, powerboating, raft races and diving. Exciting powerboating, flyboarding, wakeboarding demonstrations will on display as well as helicopter and RNLI lifeboat rescues.

Maritime villages on the quay will showcase model boats in a pool, a sea life observation tank and an exhibition on Wexfords ships. All monies raised during the festival at the RNLI Shop in the Maritime Village and activities will go towards Wexford RNLI Lifeboat. The childrens village will have free activities for children aged 6 months and up including arts and crafts, science workshops and kindermusik dance. The vikings are coming back to life and setting up camp also where they will show brass rubbing and shield making skills. Wexford food family will have delicious offerings in the Food Village and live music will sound all weekend in the free stage area.
