Opera will be a cracker
FOR the third year running, Wexford Festival Opera and Wexford Creamery are joining forces to bring opera to the people with tea, cheese and crackers on offer too.
With the support of the Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA), they arranged to host four Taste of Opera evenings across the county during September and October, where members will be able to get a sampling of what the festival has to offer and a chance to socialise.
Two have already taken place - at Gorey and at the St Louis Day Care Centre in Ramsgrange - while the two remaining ones will be on Thursday September 26 at Kilmore Hall, on Thursday October 12 at Rathgarogue Hall. Both will begin at 8 p.m. on those nights, with tea, cheese and crackers for all. There will also be a raffle to be in a chance of winning two tickets to an opera dress rehearsal, two bottles of wine or three Wexford Creamery hampers.
Wexford Festival Opera singer and Wexford resident Chloë Morgan will perform at the events. A native of Bath in England, Chloë is a member of the award-winning Monteverdi Choir and has performed in Wexford since 2011. She has also worked as a session singer on the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies. Chloë now lives in an old converted schoolhouse in Foulksmills, after falling in love with a Wexford man during the festival last year.
The 62nd Wexford Festival Opera will run for 12 days from Wednesday, 23 October until Sunday, 3 November.
