Celtic Tenors on lawn at St Peter's

Pádraig Byrne

The countdown is now well and truly on and organisers have one eye on the long-range weather forecast as the Celtic Tenors take to the iconic grounds of St Peter's College for a very special open air concert on Friday, June 28.

The all seated event will take place on the beautiful lawn of St Peter's and as well as having the magnificent, world-renowned Celtic Tenors on the bill, there will also be a special performance from the Loch Garman Band.

As well as being a fundraiser for charity and the college sports development, the event is also taking place to mark 200 years since students first arrived at St Peter's College in Summerhill, way back in September 1819.

Gates will be open at 6 p.m. and there will be a barbecue and refreshments available, as well as some wonderful live music.

'This is an inaugural Summer Concert on the Front Lawn of St Peter's College. It is hoped that the people of Wexford will join us for an incredible evening of music in an idyllic setting overlooking the town of Wexford and the harbour beyond,' said organiser and deputy principal at the college Sean Foley.

'This is a picturesque scene that past pupils will be familiar with, but one which many people in the town and county of Wexford will not have seen before. We hope you arrange to arrive early, meet old friends , have some food and then retire to the front lawn to hear some outstanding singing from the Celtic Tenors and selected guests.'

Tickets are priced at €30 and are available from St Peter's College Office (053- 91420071) and Wexford Art Centre.
