Pink Rock Fun Run draws colourful cast
BATTLING rain and freezing cold over 100 people took part in the annual Pink Rock Fun Run on St Stephen's Day.
Dressed in humourous outfits, the runners ran 5 km raising €600 for St Joseph's Athletic Club, which organises the event, and for one of the club's members who is travelling to Los Angeles this year to work as a volunteer at the Special Olympics.
This event may be the last of its kind due to the upcoming construction of the new bridge for the New Ross Bypass in the Pink Rock area.
Patrick Bookle of St Joseph's Athletic Club said: 'The weather wasn't great but we had over 100 people brave the elements. We had big support from the United Striders and people were out in gancy dress costumes.'
Mr Bookle said new members (both adults and children) are welcome to join St Joseph's Athletic Club which meets on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rosbercon training grounds at Albatros.
