An afternoon tea fundraiser organised by the Brandon House Hotel staff in memory of their late and dearly missed colleague Therese Brazil, raised €2,458 in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare Service.

Family and friends of Therese reminisced about her while sipping tea from china cups and indulging their sweet tooth.

Making it extra special was the individual theming of tables around Therese's personality. Each table had a floral centrepiece around which there was a theme: a Family First table with family photos; a Woollen Wizard table with wool, needles and scissors in a nod to her knitting skills; remembering her career, an Always Accountable table; a Musically Minded Table with programmes and sheet music in recognition of her membership of New Ross Musical Society.

The organising team said: 'Therese was an avid party planner herself and would be well impressed with the table theming prowess on show. She would also be thrilled to know that her colleagues, in her honour, raised a whopping €2,548 for Wexford Hospice Homecare Service, a vital service that relies on donations for 80 per cent of its funding.'

The hotel staff would like to thank the following people who made the day happen: Mandy Dalton, Fleur Creative, who designed the most elegant poster and ticket for the event; the 18 craftspeople who had stalls at the event; the staff and their family members who baked the mouthwatering confectionery and provided the china; and the hotel staff who gave of their time to help out on the day.

'We also want to thank Therese's family, friends and colleagues who came in large numbers and made the day the success it was and the hotel for facilitating the event and supplying the sandwiches, tea and raffle prizes.'

Raffle prizes went to Joanne Hartley who won first prize of a one-hour spa treatment for two people together with use of the facilities.

Maria Kavanagh won second prize of a drinks hamper. Ruby Somers bagged herself a chocolate hamper for third prize.

Fourth prize of a wine hamper went to Eleanor Byrne. Jimmy Furlong and Kay Tyrell each won Elemis products.

Rachel Byrne and Colette Tinnelly each won a wine duo for seventh and eighth prize. Betty Kirwan won a box of beer and the following each won a bottle of wine: Sarah Nolan, Ann Brazil, Maggie Brennan and Cait Foran.

There were two door prizes for Afternoon Tea Ticket holders. Berr Upton of Beautiful Millinery sponsored the first prize of a Cameo Brooch together with a money off voucher for her wares which was won by Siobhan Grace. Crissie Farrell was the lucky winner of the second door prize, a €25 One 4 All Voucher.
