Swimming bans lifted
SWIMMMING bans have been lifted at four Wexford beaches.
Test results from samples taken earlier this month led to swimming bans being put in place by Wexford County Council on Monday last, but they have now been given the all-clear.
A spokesperson for Wexford County Council said: 'The results of bathing water samples taken at the beaches on Monday were good with regard to Enterococci and Ecoli. It's now safe to swim at these beaches.'
Gerry Forde of Wexford County Council it is unclear why the results showed higher than acceptable readings for Enterococci and E.coli.
The council's bathing water quality monitoring programme continues through the summer up until September 15, while bathing water samples are taken weekly.
