Ros Tapestry talk in Tintern gives insight into history
Visitors to Tintern Abbey have been treated to a fascinating talk on the history of the Ros Tapestry collection.
Tapestry workers were invited to Tintern Abbey by the OPW to give a presentation on the Norman History as depicted in the tapestries.
Marion Coady gave a talk about the tapestries, which are based at the Ros Tapestry visitor centre on the quay in New Ross.
Ann Fogarty gave a demonstration of the use of the lightbox and the different stitches used in the Tapestry which are seeding, chain stitch, couching, Long and Short, Stem Stitch, French Knots, Bullion and Satin Stitch.
Ms Coady said: 'The feedback from the many visitors there was wonderful, it was a beautiful day and the Abbey and Colclough Walled Gardens were resplendent in the sunshine. We would like to thank the staff of Tintern Abbey for their hospitality during our visit.'
