This year's parade in New Ross looks set to be a spectacular event. Like last year the colour party, bands and walking groups are to form in Good Counsel College's grounds from 1 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. for a 2 p.m. start.

All floats and vintage vehicles are to form in the Irishtown between the traffic lights and the cemetery from 12.30 p.m., also for a 2 p.m. start.

The walking section will leave the Good Counsel College grounds at 2 p.m. sharp turning right onto the Bosheen Road, then a left at the traffic lights onto the Irishtown.

The floats will follow the parade when all the walking groups are on the Irishtown. The parade will then turn left onto Haughton Place moving onto Nunnery Lane.

The walking groups continue onto Ard Na Gréine, around the roundabout at the Three Bullet Gate and on to Neville Street, turning left down Cross Street, while the floats will turn right down Windmill Lane, left onto Neville Street and rejoin the main parade by turning right down Cross Street.

At the bottom of Cross Street the parade will turn right onto Priory Street, continuing onto South Street, turn left down Charles Street and left onto The Quay. This year the viewing platform is outside the Dunbrody visitors centre.

This year the parade is expecting a bigger crowd than ever. Among those taking part are New Ross Swimming Club, Rosbercon Vintage Group, Wexford Classic Cars, New Ross Special Olympics, Face of New Ross and New Ross District Pipe Band.

This year the Town Council members will act as Grand Marshalls to mark the last year of the Town Council.

The prizegiving will take place from the reviewing stand as the groups pass by having being judged in Irishtown. All prizes are currently on display in Spiders.

To enter the parade with a float or a walking group contact 0872571841 or write to annettelarkin2013@ And if there is anyone who would still like to get involved with helping out on the day volunteers are always needed.
