New Ross & District Chamber celebrated 40 years incorporated this year and board members past and present gathering for the recent launch of what one Chamber representative described as 'our year of celebrations'.

New Ross & District Chamber CEO Teresa Delaney said; 'The Chamber has played a major role in shaping the fabric of our town and district and supporting business and community over the past 40 years. '

This includes running CE schemes across the area which have helped upskill thousands of people over 23 years, Chamber representatives have also lobbied for infrastructure for the area, including the New Ross Bypass. The chamber has benefited from fostering close ties with the county's biggest employer, Lake Region, over the years, who has invested around €2m in the Chamber voucher scheme.

Acting Vice Chairperson Lorcan Kinsella said: '40 years is an incredible milestone and we look forward to marking this with our members, sponsors and the greater community this year.'

Planning is under way for special commemorative events, including a photography exhibition, in addition to the regular chamber events throughout the year including a summer barbecue and a business and community gala awards night which will all have a 40 theme to them.
