In 1956 Tom Curtis would cycle from his Gusserane home miles in all kinds of weather to see his beloved Mag and sixty years on from their wedding day on June 25, 1957, the couple are more united than ever.

Mag and Tom met at a dance and went on to strike up a winning relationship which has spanned seven decades. They raised their children Peg and Justin at their loving home in Rathnageeragh, Gusserane.

The magnetic couple were joined by family members, including their grandchildren Linda, Tanya and Seán and great-granddaughter Mila, at the Horse & Hound Hotel in Ballinaboola for a meal and a family celebration for their 60th wedding anniversary recently.

Everyone enjoyed cake and Mag and Tom enjoyed talking about old times and catching up with family. The party went on late into the evening.

Both Tom, 92, and Mag, 91, are no slouches and they both worked hard over the years. Tom was a mixed farmer all of his life and was involved in bees, the Civil Defence, the FCA and with the Pikemen and Mag ran the household.

The couple are in good health and a joy to be around. Tom regularly visits Mag, who is a resident of New Ross Community Hospital.

A family member said: 'They are a very united couple and always did everything together.'
