Guards up beaches patrols
Following several thefts at our district's beaches, gardaí have increased their patrols.
The latest theft occurred on Monday, August 26, when two Polish visitors who left their jackets behind them at Hook Head while they went to explore the scenery returned to find their jackets containing wallets containing cash gone, along with their mobile phones.
The men, who are living in Co Wexford, reported the thefts to gardaí two days later.
A garda spokesperson said: 'There are proactive patrols going on in the beach areas still. People should report any of these crimes. They may be of the opinion that they are annoying the guards, but they are not. Ring us and always report anything suspicious rather than wishing they had afterwards.'
