World champion ploughman Martin Kehoe stole the show at last weekend's Northern Ireland International Ploughing Championship having lost his son Martin Jnr in a tragic farm accident the previous week.

Dozens of spectators watched as the veteran ploughman who is a three times world champion who first started competing 50 years ago in 1967 - completed his plot, winning the Conventional Class overall - just over a week after the ploughing community was left shocked by the death of his son Martin Jnr, aged 33. Martin Snr had been at the National Ploughing Championships in County Offaly when word of the accident reached him. Organisers of the National Ploughing Championships marked the tragedy with a minute's silence. Last week he came up against around 50 of the North's best ploughmen in Donaghacloney, County Down, as well as several competitors from the republic, winning his category.
