A new dog litter prevention campaign at Pearse Park, is about to be launched.

Former municipal cathaoirleach Cllr Michael Whelan launched new signage at the park as part of a green flag application in June. A Green Dog Walker campaign is being launched by Wexford County Council at parks across the county this summer. Dog owners will be able to sign up for armbands and doggie bags. The new wooden signs at Pearse Park act as visual markers for each area and some signs are in both English and Gaelic.

Dean Waters of New Ross Municipal District said the council has changed its signs from red to green making the park a friendlier, more inclusive space. He said dog walkers are quietly urged to look after their own park, ensuring any dog litter is cleaned up as children use the park, adding that most people are excellent at picking up their dog's dirt.
