Paul and Margaret Morrin celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the company of more than seventy family members at Corcoran's bar in New Ross recently.

The Newtown Commons couple met when a brother of Paul's married Margaret's sister.

They were married on June 24, 1967, in London and returned this June to celebrate their anniversary, before joining up with family and friends for their New Ross party.

A proud County Mayo man, Paul, who worked in New Ross for The Ross Company, Albatros and in the fish factory at different periods, was joined by his family from home.

Joined by their daughters Mary, Marian, Pauline and Bridget, and son Gerard, along with their 12 grandchildren and great-grandchild, they enjoyed cake, music and catching up with everyone, with many travelling from Galway and Mayo for the big event.

Bridget said: 'They had a wonderful time. There was a huge turn out of around 70 people.'

The happy couple were treated to a night away at Mount Wolseley in Carlow courtesy of their grandson Darren Browne.
