For new mum Megan Kiely picking up her Leaving Cert results on Tuesday - four months after the birth of her son - marked an extra special milestone in her life as she progresses into third level education.

Megan, who spent a happy six years at New Ross CBS Secondary School, gave birth to Jayden on May 4.

'He came very close, extremely close to my exams,' Megan said, as she sat totting up her results in the school corridor.

Her due date coincided with the Easter holidays, so in total Megan only missed five days of school,

'It was hectic. My nan Margaret Carroll took him most of the time so I could get some sleep in the middle of the night. I stayed in school up until two weeks before my due date,' the proud-as-punch mother said, while burping her baby.

Megan said New Ross CBS teachers helped her staying on track, adding that she is very grateful to them all.

'I did a lot better than I thought I would. It was just pure luck,' the hard working New Ross woman said.

'I just kept coming in. I missed about five days of school in total. I used to come straight in from my appointments.'

Megan plans to go on to study as an SNA in Waterford.
