Washworld Laundrette will have a bigger workforce after merger

Emerald dry cleaners is leaving Quay Street in New Ross after half a century and joining with Washworld in a new venture at the landmark County Wexford business.

Run by Deirdre and Pete Caulfield, the business at 11 Quay Street is relocating to join its sister company Washworld Laundrette at 9 Michael Street.

Emerald Cleaners was founded in 1966 and moved to Quay Street in 1968.

Washworld was formed in 1999 to meet the growing demand for dry cleaned and freshly washed clothing and fabrics in New Ross and across the district. Employing eight staff in total between both businesses, Pete said the move will offer more convenience to their many loyal customers.

'With the type of business we have there are huge loads. We listened to our customers and they said they had to do laps of the town to find parking so we see Michael Street as being more convenient as you are guaranteed parking outside.'
