Drink driving warning

Following the arrest of 20 people in recent months in the New Ross district for drunken driving, gardaí are warning drivers to be extra careful on our roads this festive period, a time of year when people switch off and let themselves go.

Sergeant Eddie Wilde said: 'We are being very active with checkpoints on the roads. We are urging people not to drink and drive. We've had a lot of success. unfortunately, with arrests for drink driving lately and would ask people to be aware of the potential for big disasters. If people are sick or hungover they mightn't be fit to drive so they should be conscious of their ability to drive.'
