Both New Ross Town FC and Campile FC run academies for girls and boys train every Saturday morning and the teams played against each other recently.

The academies are for girls and boys as young as 4 and up to 8.

A New Ross Town Club spokesperson said: 'Both clubs feel that these challenge games are a great experience for the kids. There is nothing like seeing the reaction from the children when they save a shot on goal, make a tackle, dribble the ball or the ultimate - scoring a goal, in terms of summary of the game.'

The spokesperson said: 'There was great fun had by all the players which meant a very enjoyable match for both parents and coaches.'

Before New Ross Town FC travels out to Campile, the club hosted another challenge match on October 21 in New Ross when Campile travelled in to play again, along with Ferrybank FC. 'We would also like to thank all the parents for their encouragement and support when training and matches are on. The children are enjoying playing.'
