Bróna is new principal for county's first community national school
Bróna Kenneally has been appointed as principal of Kilnamanagh National School, which is being taken over by the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) this summer, the first of its kind in county Wexford.
Patronage is being transferred from the Church of Ireland, to WWETB, and the school is now taking enrollments for junior infants to sixth class students, for families in the Kilnamanagh and Gorey area as well as children from the wider area for the coming academic year, 2019-2020.
Kilnamanagh National School promises to offer a progressive model of primary education underpinned by a unique multidenominational ethos. 'We are thrilled to welcome Bróna Kenneally to Kilnamanagh and to WWETB. She is a passionate advocate of the model and brings a wealth of experience to the role,' said Eilís Leddy, Director of Schools at WWETB.
'Bróna is deeply committed to the provision of high quality teaching and learning in an holistic setting,' said Eilís Leddy.
Parents from the area are invited to attend an open evening at the school on Monday May 20 at 7 p.m., where they will have the opportunity to meet the staff and view the school.
'It is an honour and a privilege to be leading the school as we begin our journey as the first Community National School in Wexford, which is a fantastic opportunity for the school and the local community,' said Principal Bróna Kenneally.
'I look forward to building relationships with the students and their families in a school that is inclusive, diverse and caring and respectful of the long heritage of the school,' she said.
Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board currently operates eight secondary schools in the county, but this is be the board's first venture into primary education, something it hopes will be the first of many community national schools in Wexford.
