All-Ireland horseshoe event for Bunclody

The All-Ireland horseshoe competition will take place at Bridge Meadow, Bunclody, from August 23 to 25.

The event is being hosted by the Woodsmen Horseshoe Club which is hoping to secure the all-Ireland title for the 10th time.

If successful it would be a very significant achievement as it would be unequalled by any other club in the country.

The competition will begin on Friday, August 23, with the all-Ireland open pairs events which will be followed the next day by the all-Ireland club competition, over two divisions, and the all-Ireland county competition - also over two divisions.

On Sunday there will also be all-Ireland pairs competitions and an all-Ireland ringers event.

The presentation of prizes will take place that night in the Rivers Edge, Bunclody, from 9 p.m.

The host club was founded by Liam Bond and Chris McDonald in the early 1970s and has been going since then.

The Woodsmen team is composed of: Chris McDonald, Michael Redmond, Paddy Connors, Phil Mahon, Tom Connors, John Giltrap, Brendan Earle and Liam Bond.
