€200,000 in funds will double capacity of Ross Dry Dock

LEADER funding of €200,000 has been announced for a cover for New Ross Dry Dock which will almost double capacity.

The dry dock cover at the boatyard in Raheen will enable the facility to be used in all weather conditions and dramatically increase activity at the boat repair yard.

The boat yard has been in operation since 2008 and is run by brothers Michael and Stephen Kehoe. The total cost of the project, which is due to be completed in September of next year, is due to amount to over €680,000.

The boat storage facility will increase from 120 boats to 200 boats and work capacity will increase by 66 per cent as from next September repair works on boats can be carried out 365 days a year regardless of weather conditions. It is the only LEADER project to receive over €100,000 in the latest funding round. Deputy Paul Kehoe welcomed the LEADER funding.

'This significant announcement will provide New Ross with a massive boost. I have been in touch regularly with Minister Michael Ring about the schemes under his department, such as LEADER and the town and village renewal project and the need to ensure Wexford receives its fair share.

This funding demonstrates our commitment to ensuring areas outside of Dublin are not left behind when it comes to investment.'
