Tintern to host 8 and 5k trail runs

The Sherry Fitzgerald Radford Tintern Abbey Trail Run takes place on Sunday, October 14, at 11 a.m. on the grounds of Tintern Abbey,

Organised by Gusserane Coiste na nÓg the fifth staging of the Sherry Fitzgerald Radford Tintern Run, in the medieval grounds of the abbey, take place over two courses to choose from, a 5km and a 8km. Both courses capture the best of the stunning trails that surround Tintern Abbey.

The event caters for all levels of fitness, from elite runner to casual walker. For this run the organisers have modified and substantially changed both courses, parts of which have never been run before. Registration can be done by logging onto the Tintern Run Facebook page or log onto www.active.com you can also register on the day from 10 a.m.

The race commences at 11 a.m. sharp.

The entry fee is €10 for all persons over 16 years of age and €5 for U16s. There is a family rate available of €25 for two adults and two U16s. Complementary refreshments are available in the registration marquee during the event. Secure car parking in the Boormalt compound (concrete yard) which will be stewarded until all vehicles are left.

People attending are asked to follow parking signs in the interest of road safety and are advised to allow plenty of time as the car park is about five to ten minutes walk from the registration marquees.
