Two New Ross CBS students have achieved national recognition in sporting and academic fields recently.

Padraig Hore, 15, from Carroreigh, achieved the third highest result in Technical Graphics in the Junior Certificate nationally in September.

CBS Secondary School Principal Pat Rossiter said: 'It was a fantastic result. It's not every day you get an achievement like that. He is a lovely student who won an award previously for running a mini company.'

Padraig played one of the lead roles in the school's production of Joseph & The Technicolour Dreamcoat and has represented Ireland in Athletics in discus throwing and shot put.

6th Year student Grace Furlong, 18, from Old Ross, shot to national prominence in the triple jump, having won the All Ireland in Athlone recently.

Mr Rossiter congratulated her on her amazing success in the competition.
