Quiz raises funds for It's Good to Talk counselling
Quiz fans braved miserable weather recently to support a table quiz in aid of It's Good to Talk at the Talbot Hotel.
The quiz raised approximately €400 which will go towards the running of the service which relies heavily on charitable donations as it receives no government funding.
Leonard Kelly acted as quizmaster for the night, asking an eclectic set of questions as well as a challenging picture round.
Chairman of the Friends of It's Good to Talk, Leo Coy said the event had been a 'good, fun night', adding that the dreadful weather conditions had had an impact on their crowd but they were thankful to those who had come out to support them.
The next event in the It's Good to Talk calendar is the Marathon in June which incorporates a relay competition, proceeds from which will go towards the charity amongst other groups.
Mr Coy said: 'We are trying to encourage people to take part in that because while a marathon is a big ask, when you break it down into four sections, it's very doable.'
He added that the Friends were keen to raise both funds and awareness of the service.
