New Ross & District Pipe Band members are back entertaining with performances planned for throughout the town this summer.
The band kicked things off with a practice/performance at Pearse Park, everyone enjoying the lovely weather and great turnout.
Brian MacMahon of the band said: 'We had started a beginner's class before Christmas with 20 pupils in total, and by the beginning of March they were really beginning to show progress and we were really looking forward to showcasing them in our Celtic Weave concert on March 28.'
He said: 'We tried as best we could to keep in touch electronically during lockdown. It was such a joyous occasion to have all our young pupils back playing again, and our more senior members. In March, parents would drop their children off at practice and collect them when it was over. Last week, parents hung around in the park and listened in. It was good for the parents to hear their children playing and I got a sense that the pupils really enjoyed having the parents listening in!'
Performances at the Three Bullet Gate and Irishtown and at the local hospitals, retirement homes are planned.
