Inistioge was buzzing over the August Bank Holiday weekend when two vintage rallies were held.

Looking fresh and vibrant following months of preparations for the Entente Florale judges, the village was a floral wonderland.

John Paul Phelan TD officially opened the weekend's festivities, with Kilkenny mayor Peter 'Chap' Cleere by his side. The Slievenamon Road Run took place on Saturday bringing hundreds of people into the village for a colourful spectacle.

Chairman of the Inistioge Vintage Rally Sean Treacy said: 'There was a great buzz in the village all weekend. We had around 250 vehicle exhibits (at the Inistioge Vintage Rally), including two threshers from the Slievenamon group and from Paddy and Jack Knox from the local vintage club. We are trying to keep the traditions alive. '

Jim Fitzpatrick won the overall Leslie Rothwell trophy for his wonderfully restored For tractor.

The only weather related casualty was the duck races.
