Fifth and sixth class pupils invited to Ramsgrange open night

By Esther Hayden

Ramsgrange Community School is a hive of activity as staff and students are busy preparing for their very popular open night this Thursday from 6pm to 9pm.

The school will celebrate 40 years as a community school with its history stretching back to the 19th Century when the Sisters of St Louis came and set up a prestigious school in the area.

Set in green and spacious grounds, this dynamic 400+ co-ed school has a huge catchment area and caters for students from close to Wexford town, all the way out the Hook Peninsula, up as far as Ballykelly and across the river estuary to the schools of the Passage East, Crooke, Dunmore, Faithlegg and beyond.

It benefits from fantastic facilities which include up to date laboratories, specialist rooms for languages, art, career guidance, computers, Home Economics and physical education. Other facilities include a canteen, library and oratory. Outside on the grounds is a track encircling the pitches and playing fields and basketball courts.

Gaelic football, hurling, basketball, camogie, badminton, athletics, soccer and equestrian are the most popular sports played at the school. A warm welcome is extended to all 5th and 6th class students and their parents this Thursday evening.
