Darkness into Light fundraising run is coming to New Ross
The first ever Darkness into Light walk will take place in New Ross this May.
Darkness into Light is the main fundraiser for Pieta House, a charity which was set up in 2006 to provide counselling for people who suffer from suicidal ideation or who are engaging in self harm.
When the first walk took place in 2009 there was one venue, Phoenix Park. This year there will be 154 venues worldwide, from South Korea, to Canada to New Zealand and for the first time, New Ross.
The walk takes place on May 6 at 4.15 a.m., leaving from and returning to the Apex in the Bosheen.
Last year's walk raised enough funds to pay for an incredible 45,000 hours of counselling for 3,500 people.
Registration will begin soon which will be online on www.dil.pieta.ie. People are encouraged to like the group's Facebook page, Darkness into Light New Ross, where you will get further information as it becomes available. There you will also find the link for registering.
If you have any queries or would like to sponsor any part of the event, you can message the organisers on Facebook, email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Ger at 086 1614413.
The New Ross Darkness into Light group will also be taking part in the St Patrick's Day parade.
