Duncannon ICA News

The May meeting and AGM of Duncannon ICA was held in the St Louis Day Care Centre on May 17The president Gretta extended a welcome to Kitty, who was warmly greeted by the 16 members present.

Although the Guild's performance at the ICA talent show didn't receive an award it was deemed a great success by members. The atmosphere, camaraderie and laughter showed that the night is more about participation than winning.

Since our April meeting Marie, Rosaleen, Mary O'K and Catherine have been working hard on the Special Occasion Competition 'ICA on Tour'. All were impressed with their creativity and craftwork. Marie received our congratulations on winning first prize in the April federation competition. Her bunny made using the inner tube of toilet rolls and one other component was the star of the show. The guild will host the June federation meeting on June 21 the competition is a coloured photograph human or animal titled 'Best Smile'.

Una gave an overall review of the year which demonstrated how active the guild is. There were competitions, outings, fundraising, demonstrations and activities which included three wins at federation level. Gretta, whose term as president is up thanked members especially her officers for their support over three years. Gretta's enthusiasm encouraged participation in ICA activities and her commitment to the guild is greatly appreciated. Teresa, who gave an up to date account of finances was thanked for keeping the funds in order.

The following were voted in as officers for the coming year - president Mary O'Kelly, secretary Una Prendergast, treasurer Marie Kehoe. While tea was being served by Rosaleen and Mary C the competition for the best bunch of wild flowers was being judged. Deborah was placed first, Mary C second and Anna third. The bunches contained buttercup, campion, hogweed, plantain, vetches, bluebells, cow's parsley, herb Robert, greater stitchwort, speedwell and the hawthorn blossom in an array of colours.
