Cushinstown: Community Games - Congratulations to all Rathgarogue-Cushinstown children who took part in the Aldi Community Games national finals in UL last weekend.

Special mention to Grace and Isabel Walsh, who won silver in under-12 Irish Contemporary Dance, and Mia Walsh, Laurie Bolger, Aoife Byrne and Aoife Barry, who won silver in under-16 Irish Contemporary Dance. Also Donnacha McCarthy who won silver in the under-12 boys Freestyle and Caitlin Gaffney, who got a medal for fourth place in under-13 girls One Wall handball. Hannah Hennessy Murphy and Nicole Colfer narrowly missed podium positions coming fifth in girls under-eight and under-12 Freestyle respectively. Also taking part were Killian Kehoe, Alisha Kent and David Kent in Model Making, and Molly Hennessy Murphy, Cael Colfer, Seán Barry and Ciarán McCarthy in swimming events. Field day.

Rathgarogue parents' association and Rathgarogue Community Development Committee are delighted to join forces and host Rathgarogue's first field day in approximately 35 years, the proceeds of which will be divided between the future development of an All-Weather Pitch at the School and the proposed new Community Hall in Rathgarogue.

There will lots of stalls and activities for young and old to enjoy; cake stall, bottle stall, wheel of fortune, duck races, bric-à-brac, hanging tough and quad rides to name but a few.

We are currently appealing to everyone for donations for the bric-à-brac and bottle stalls. These can be dropped off at Scoil Naomh Áine during school hours. We look forward to everyone joining us on June 9 for what we hope will be a great Community/Family day out.

Terrerath Hall

Bingo every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., we would appreciate all support and all are welcome. Every Monday night, our new yoga classes have commenced in the community centre from 7.30-8.30. Open to both male and female. Friday nights: Irish dancing, and Thursdays - Slimming World. The local soccer club also has training sessions from five years upwards. The Hall Committee appreciates everyone using the facilities and helps the upkeep of the hall.

Terrerath Community Centre

Thank you to the small few people who attend our AGM unfortunately we were unable to form a committee. The community centre will continue to run as normal over the coming weeks and another meeting will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 8.30 p.m. if a committee cannot be formed at this meeting, the future of the community centre may be in jeopardy. If you could spare some time to help out please do attend.

Free Digital Skills Course

This is funded by the Dept. Communication Climate Action and Environment, and is open to anyone wanting to know how to use laptop, I-pad, Smart phone or tablet. Course includes - Setting up email address, sending emails with attachments/photos etc, social media, Using e-government services car tax, ROS online, safety and shopping online. Library services available online. Courses are 2.5 hours over four weeks. Delivered in CTEC and in the Libraries. If you can get a group of 8-10 people together we can deliver a course for your group in any venue nearby with good WIFI access. Citizens online

A free computer course, Citizens on Line, is being offered to all citizens by Irish Rural Link. It involves five two-hour classes over five weeks and is being run in all the local halls. Duncannon golf classic

Duncannon FC is holding its first annual Golf and Footgolf Classic on June 22 at Abbey Par three. Golf, teams of two €30. 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. Foot Golf 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids €10. Prizes for the top two teams in golf, and prizes for the first under-10/11/12/14, nearest the Pin/barbecue and lots more. Come along for a great day of fun. Gusserane

Cards

Winners in the hall last week were Nick Doyle, Willie Kehoe and Mick Reville. Second went to Kieran Keating, Jimmy Haughton and Willie White. In third place were Mick Culleton and Johnny Colfer while the LGD went to Declan Egan, Marie Doyle and Noel Redmond. Raffle winners were Jimmy Haughton, Jamie Grangle, John Sinnott and Declan Egan.

GAA action

With Tom Somers Park in Gusserane closed due to pitch maintenance, Ballycullane became a happy hunting ground for Gusserane's footballers last week.

Our third team in adult football had a thrilling win over Duffy Rovers in the junior B championship on a scoreline of 3-15 to 2-10. Gusserane's goals came from Seamie Kehoe and Shaun Maher.

On Wednesday evening our minor footballers had an equally entertaining game against Starlights in the Matty Forde Competition on a scoreline of 6-10 to 5-2.

Best of luck to our senior footballers who are due to take on St James in the final of the Tommy Murphy Cup in Horeswood this evening, Tuesday.

Lotto

There was no jackpot winner in the Tintern Lotto draw last week when the numbers drawn were 5, 7, 16 and 25. This week's jackpot now stands at €8,450. The match three winners last week were Bernadette Cullen from Ballyhackbeg, Noel Furlong from Dunmain, Vincent Furlong from Yoletown, Pat Power from Cassagh and Maycie & Noeleen Flynn from Cloonagh.

Sympathy

The death took place last week of Philip Kennedy of The Grotto, Rathimney. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Cherie, and their family and also to his sister, Mary Foley of Rathimney on their loss. Philip was buried in his native Clongeen after funeral mass in Gusserane last Saturday morning.

Patron

The dates for annual blessing of the graves and patron mass devoted to St John the Baptist have been announced. Graveyards at Poul and Rathimney will be visited at 6.30pm and 7pm on Saturday 15th June. Graveyards at Nash and Gusserane will be visited at 6.30pm and 7pm on Saturday 22nd June. Open-air mass will follow in Gusserane if the weather permits. Otherwise it will move indoors to the church.

Camogie

Camogie training for all girls under 6 started on Tuesday 28th May in Ballycullane at 6pm. Camogie for this age group is open to all girls that are in junior and possibly senior infants but are no older than six on 31st December 2019. Please wear shin guards and a helmet and bring your hurley. If anyone is interested in helping with camogie training there are different courses that are simple and straightforward but need to be done, and all helpers will be most welcome to come on board. The Junior Hurlers beat Glynn-Barntown 6-13 to 3-18 in the league to keep their hopes of a semi-final spot alive.

Fixtures - Senior Footballers play Away to Clongeen in the Tom Hickey Shield Final on Tuesday, June 4, at 7.30. Saturday, June 8, Junior Football League in Kilmore at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, Senior Football League away to St Martin's at 7.30 p.m.

This year's Kennedy Run 'Hike to the Homestead' will take place on Saturday, June 22, and in preparation training takes place in the GAA Park We are run/walking the 6k at 7.30 on Wednesday nights and walking the 12k 'hike through the Kennedy Homestead route every Sunday morning at 8 a.m. We start at the GAA pitch. Coiste na nÓg

The under-13 hurlers kept up their unbeaten run with a 3-13 to 3-1 win at home to Blackwater. The under-13 footballers play away to Kilrush on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m.

Cúl Camps

There will be two Cúl Camps in Horeswood again this year. The first camp runs from July 15 to July 19 with the second one from August 12 to August 16. Fee is €60 for first child, €55 for second and €45 for third. Each hcild will receive a GAA pack and gear bag. It is open to nayone from six to 13 years old. To book go to kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.

Horeswood had three winners in May's Model County Draw. Una Nolan won a €1500 voucher for Pettits Supermarket, Linda, Georgina and Damien Hearn a €250 Voucher for the Midlands Hotel, Portlaoise and Brendan Howlett won €150.

Computer Course

Getting Citizens online is a completely free 10-hour computer course provided by Irish Rural Link and the Department of Communications to enable all citizens to become computer literate and use the internet. It is based locally in community venues and halls. It consists of five two-hour classes. It is aimed at beginners and all adults are welcome.

Sisters of Saint Louis

The Sisters of St Louis will be departing Ramsgrange in the near future after many years of service in the parish.

Bishop Brennan will join us to Celebrate the 10.30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 9. Afterwards we will have refreshments in the Day Care Centre, and time for a chat. Everyone is welcome.
