The Clongeen National School parents' association are holding a summer raffle to be held at end of year ceremony this Friday, June 21. The purpose of the raffle is to raise funds to support the on-going need to supply up to date resources for the classrooms of all our children such as readers and online resources that support teaching material.
The cost of running the school is high and additional funds raised to purchase the above resources would be very much appreciated by the school staff and ultimately of great benefit to all the children in our school. There are some great prizes that have been kindly donated by local businesses. All families with children in the school are being given a raffle card and they will also be available locally if anyone wishes to support the school. Any support that can be given to this raffle would be greatly appreciated.
15 guys and buddy turned out for the weekly kickabout in Grantstown before a couple had to make an early departure for the annual barbi in Horetown. This was a big one for the hostess who turned 50 during the past week. The game finished with all intact and the barbi went very well too with the weather turning excellent after a showery morning, which makes the difference between a good event and a great one. Everyone was very well fed and watered and a special mention goes to Suzanne, who played a blinder on the barbi, thanks to all who turned out to make it a truly enjoyable evening and by the way, no dolls got burnt or hurt during or after the event.
