Bannow-Ballymitty: Social dancing. Dancing continues in Tír na nÓg every Thursday night with music this Thursday, August 8, by Michelle Murphy, August 15 Jimmy Hogan and Lar Kenny, August 22 El Paso and August 29 Cupla. All proceeds in aid of hand ball clubs new build, all welcome refreshments served.

Split-the-pot

The winner of last week's split the pot in aid of Corach Ramblers Club was Birdie Mulcahy from Tipperary winning €508.

GAA club notes

Lotto draw this Tuesday evening with a jackpot of €14,000. Tickets are two euro each and can be purchased from Doyle's Carrig, Seabreeze drycleaners, Tír na nÓg, Wallace's Hardware, Costcutters, Staffords Tullycanna and from any Club Officer down in the complex.

Our under-seven footballers travelled to Kilmore for a recent blitz. Their opponents were Adamstown, St Joseph's and St Fintan's/Our Lady's Island. They played their hearts out and had a great day.

The Wexford Ladies Intermediate Football squad had a great win over Laois on Sunday last, they take on Meath in their next match. Well done Jane on representing our club.

The under-15 boys' hurling team took on Adamstown in a home game and took the points. Well done lads keep up the good work rate.

Our Intermediate Football team travelled to Bellefield to take on Ballyhogue in the next round of Championships at the weekend.

Sad Passing

Deepest sympathy to Caroline O'Connor and family on the death of her mother Mary Halley last week in Waterford. Her removal was on Tuesday evening to Holy Cross Church Tramore with burial after requiem Mass on Wednesday morning in St Declan's Cemetery.

May she rest in peace.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our own Marica Cullen and the Wexford Ladies Football Team who beat Laois by two points to book their place in the All Ireland Quarter final against Meath on 4th August. Best of luck from everyone at Grantstown Daycare Centre.

Trip to Knock

A group from Grantstown Daycare Centre had a pilgrimage to Knock 26th & 27th July. It was a very enjoyable trip and everyone had a great time. Thanks to Betty Fox and Stella McNamara for organising this trip.

Monster Drive-in Bingo

Sunday, August 25, at 3 p.m. in Grantstown Community Village. €1,500 in prize money to be won, plus a Monster Raffle. Tea, coffee and homemade confectionery being served.

Cushinstown

The ladies had a very enjoyable end of year day out recently among the beautiful hills and valleys of Co. Tipperary. Starting off with a very informative visit to Ormand Castle in Carrick-on-suir by an excellent tour guide Paul, who answered all questions with good humour. Next stop, Dove hill for refreshment's and retail therapy. Following on their was an interesting talk about the Fethard Horse Country experience in Fethard, Co Tipperary, before heading to Coolmore Stud where their was a very explanatory by Tour guide Jack and meet some amazing horses, then ultimately the most famous thoroughbred racehorse and active sire Galilea (who was trained by Co. Wexford trainer Aidan o Brien). after some more retail therapy in Clonmel, the day was completed by a lovely meal at Waterford Castle.

Terrerath Hall

Bingo every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., we would appreciate all support and all are welcome. Every Monday night, our new yoga classes have commenced in the community centre from 7.30-8.30. Open to both male and female. Friday nights: Irish dancing, and Thursdays - Slimming World. The local soccer club also has training sessions from five years upwards. The Hall Committee appreciates everyone using the facilities and helps the upkeep of the hall.

Clothes Bag Collection

Terrerath Community Centre are holding a clothes collection in the next couple of months, anyone who has unwanted clothes (shoes, bags, etc) no duvets, pillows or underwear. We would love everyone to support this cause in aid of NCBI (which supports people with sight loss).

Split-the-pot

Please remember split-the-pot is drawn each Sunday following 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary's Church, Cushinstown. Tickets for the split-the-pot is available locally at €2 each.

Free Digital Skills Course

This is funded by the Dept. Communication Climate Action and Environment, and is open to anyone wanting to know how to use laptop, I-pad, Smart phone or tablet. Course includes - Setting up email address, sending emails with attachments/photos etc, social media, Using e-government services car tax, ROS online, safety and shopping online. Library services available online. Courses are 2.5 hours over four weeks. Delivered in CTEC and in the Libraries. If you can get a group of 8-10 people together we can deliver a course for your group in any venue nearby with good WIFI access. Citizens online

A free computer course, Citizens on Line, is being offered to all citizens by Irish Rural Link. It involves five two-hour classes over five weeks and is being run in all the local halls. St. James' GAA lotto

The lotto jackpot is €14,000 and the next draw will take place on the evening of Tuesday, August 6. Tickets are €2 each and can be purchased from committee members and in local shops and pubs. The club would like to thank all the ticket sellers and the premises who take their lotto books for ticket sales.

Active retirement

Our speaker for September meeting is Danny Brennan speaking on the history of Arthurstown. This will be very interesting, and will, I'm sure, bring back many happy memories for our members.

Tri-the-Hook Triathlon

The countdown is on to the Tri-the-Hook Triathlon which takes place on Saturday, August 24. In its ninth year now, Hook Tourism is look forward to running the event. We invite entries and appreciate the local support from all involved. Get training now, there's still time. 5K sponsored walk/run

St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange is fundraising with a 5K Sponsored Walk/Run in JFK Memorial Park and Arboretum, on Wednesday, August 28, at 6.30 p.m. Registration on the day from 5.30 p.m. - Entry Fee: Adults; €10, children under-16; €5. Some of the Wexford Minor and Senior Hurling Teams will be supporting us at the event.

Winners in the hall last week were Pat Ryan, Tom Corcoran and Watty Byrne. Second went to Nick Doyle, Willie Kehoe and Mick Reville. In third place was James McDonald, Pat Whelan and Dave Murphy while the LGD went to Karl Hall, Johnny Cogley and James Larkin. Raffle winners were James Larkin, Kieran Keating, John Sinnott and Billy Shannon. Thanks to all for your continued support.

Lotto

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 4, 18, 21 and 27. There was no match-three winner either so the jackpot now stands at €9,800 while the match three pot stands at €400.

Fun/Walk

St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange are fundraising with a 5K Sponsored Walk/Run in JFK Memorial Park on Wednesday, August 28, at 6.30 p.m. Registration is on the day from 5.30 p.m. The entry fee is €10 for adults and children under-16 are €5. Some of the Wexford senior and minor hurling teams will be supporting the event. All are welcome and your support would be appreciated.

GAA Gathering

The impetus is gathering pace for Gusserane GAAs Gathering on Saturday, August 10. This event will see a coming together for all people with connections to the club. This could include players, former players, parents, grandparents, supporters etc. There will be a barbecue, music, activities and a hopefully some underage parish league games. There will also will be activities for the grown ups. This will be a free event, except the barbecue, and it should be a great social occasion with the intention of becoming an annual event.
