St Patrick's Day parade

Following this week's announcement about all parades to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, the committee met to discuss a number of outstanding issues.

Several people have already bought lines for our St Patrick's Day raffle, which we use each year to help fund the parade activities. Therefore, this will go ahead and will help offset the costs we have already incurred this year e.g. printing posters etc. The draw will take place on St Patrick's night in Colfers and the winners names/prizes will be posted here.

We will still have trophy prizes for the best decorated houses on the day - again, we will post the winners here.

We are very aware that some people have been working very hard on floats/costumes for the parade and hopefully you will be able to use these next year. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for all the support and nice messages we have received.

Stay safe and healthy and keep an eye on each other.

Corach Ramblers news

Under-12 girls 2 Seaview FC 0: A brilliant performance was on show by everyone from the back four girls (Sophie, Saoirse, Ruth and Nessa), the midfielders (Dearbhla, Olivia, Ciara and Ruth - when pushed up) and our strikers (Lily, Naoise Rose, Róisín and the brilliant Mary Kate). Our two goals were just reward for a lot of work to break down the staunch defence that Seaview had in place.

Naoise Rose Cullen with a super cool finish opened the scoring and the excellent Lily Mullins was on hand to score the second.

The under-12 boys lost 2-1 at home to New Ross. Our goal was scored by Eoin Breen.

Under-14 boys 6 Gorey Rangers 0: There was a fantastic result from our under-14 boys with a comprehensive win to seal the points. The goals came from Calum Kirwan, Lucas Fitzpatrick, David McDonagh, Kyle Cleary, Jack Cleary and an OG to finish the game.

Men's cup second round, Corach 2 New Ross Celtic 2: Hard luck to the men who lost a tense second round game last Sunday. Our side went down one-nil and two-one down but came back every time to bring the game to penalties - unfortunately this was the final obstacle the lads couldn't overcome.

Corach ladies 11 St Joesph's FC 1: The Corach ladies enjoyed a great team win up in Kilmuckridge. Shannon Mcstarted the scoring with a sweet lob from 30 yards after 20 minutes. This was soon followed by the Grace O'Donovan show on a day she scored five and was involved in many more. Niamh Nessi Millar grabbed one to leave the score 4-0 at half time. The second half started with Grace scoring quickly and then the home side grabbed a lucky goal with a lob volley from a free kick 5-1. The remaining scores were added by Trina Sinnott starting and finishing a goal from the backline, Geraldine Curtis scoring a 40 yard sublime goal, Sophie Scallan and Rebecca Stafford, who scored her first senior goal.

Finally congratulations to Mary Reville, who won €510 in our split-the-pot draw. Enjoy.
