Ballycullane: Hook Tourism AGM - The Hook Tourism AGM takes place in the Fort Conan Hotel, Duncannon, at 8pm of Monday, November 4. Open to all, members and non-members.

Village improvement

The weekly 1-hour meet-up for continued village improvement, congregating at the church hall at 9.30 a.m. will take place on Saturdays for the winter months. Hope to see you there.

Handball Club AGM

The 2019 Templeudigan GAA Handball Club AGM will take place on Wednesday, November 13, in Templeudigan Hall at 8 p.m. We encourage all members to attend this important meeting. We look forward to seeing you then.

Terrerath Hall

Bingo every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., we would appreciate all support and all are welcome. Every Monday night, our new yoga classes have commenced in the community centre from 7.30-8.30. Open to both male and female. Friday nights: Irish dancing, and Thursdays - Slimming World. The local soccer club also has training sessions from five years upwards. The Hall Committee appreciates everyone using the facilities and helps the upkeep of the hall.

Clothes Bag Collection

Terrerath Community Centre are holding a clothes collection in the next couple of months, anyone who has unwanted clothes (shoes, bags, etc) no duvets, pillows or underwear. We would love everyone to support this cause in aid of NCBI (which supports people with sight loss).

Split-the-pot

Please remember split-the-pot is drawn each Sunday following 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary's Church, Cushinstown. Tickets for the split-the-pot is available locally at €2 each

Ramsgrange Community School is now taking bookings from local crafts people for the annual indoor Christmas Market which will be held in the school and gym on Sunday, November 24. Bookings of quality craft and home made products can be made via the school office ASAP at 051 389211 to avoid disappointment. This market books out very quickly each year.

Coffee Morning

Duncannon National School parents' association is hosting a coffee morning and Bake Sale in the Star of the Sea Centre on Sunday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also, on the day, there will be a Carved Pumpkin Competition and an Animal Fancy Dress Competition. Church Notes

ALL SAINTS: Friday next, November 1, is the feast of All Saints and is a Holy Day of obligation. Vigil Mass on Thursday at 7 p.m. Mass on Friday morning at 10 a.m., in 'Our Lady', Star of the Sea Church, Duncannon.

FIRST FRIDAY: Friday next is the First Friday of November and Fr John will make the usual calls on Friday morning. If you need him to call to you or yours please let him know before Friday at 087 6746799.

St James' GAA Lotto

The lotto jackpot is €14,000 and the next draw will take place on the evening of Tuesday, October 29. Tickets are €2 each and can be purchased from committee members and in local shops and pubs. The club would like to thank all the ticket sellers and the premises who take their lotto books for ticket sales.

Active Retirement

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Monday, November 4, in St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange, at 2.15 p.m. Come along for a chat with new and old friends over a cup of tea and a bun. New members always welcome. Strangers soon become friends.

Just a reminder yearly membership fees of €20 per member, this yearly fee includes insurance cover and we also subsidise many outings where we can. We are always looking for new members, so if you are 50 or over, why not come along and join us. 087 6372084.

Can we please remind everyone to book early as we need to book tickets for all of these function in advance. Also, non-members are welcome at an extra fee of €5 as most of our events are subsidised out of membership fees, so why not just join us only €20 for the year.

Gusserane

Cards

Winners in the hall last week were Alice Gaffney, Margaret O'Neill and Jamie Grangel. Second were Michael Whelan, Luke Power and Brendan Colfer. In third place were Pat Ryan, Watty Byrne and Larry Power while Nick Doyle, Willie Kehoe and Siobhán Doyle came fourth. The LGD was won by Mick Culleton, Pat Murray and Johnny Colfer while raffle winners were Siobhán Doyle, Jamie Grangel, Michael Murphy, Noel Redmond and Luke Power.

Gusserane Dance

Tickets are now on sale from door to door for the Gusserane parish council's annual dance on Friday, November 8, in Gusserane Hall. Music will be provided by the popular Hogan and Kenny. All proceeds will go towards heating oil for the church. Admission can also be paid on the door and is only €5. Tea will be served on the night. Dancing kicks off at 9.30 p.m.

Tintern Review

The 2019 edition of the Tintern Review is now on sale throughout the area. This year's book features Kettlebells, a WW2 crash, JFKs granny from Cloonagh, GAA including the Parish League of 1985, Soccer, Ploughing, Rowing and many other snippets and photos of local interest. The price is still only €7 and no home should be without a copy. Copies in the Gusserane area are on sale from Rosies Bar.

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 5, 19, 22 and 26. The match-three winner was Bill Whelan from Clongeen. This week's jackpot stands at €11,600.

Ploughing celebrations

Ballycullane Ploughing Association are holding a celebration night in Power's Lounge, Ballycullane on Saturday, November 2, at 9 p.m. to celebrate the success of all its membersthroughout the year. Light refreshments and music on the night.

Horeswood

GAA action

The under-20 footballers played away to Cushinstown in the District semi-final last Saurday, with the winners playing Adamstown/Taghmon in the District Final.

Coiste na nÓg

The under-14 hurlers beat Adamstown 7-13 to 2-1 in Round one of the Martin Storey Cup. They play at home to St Martin's on Sunday, November 3, at 11 a.m.

The under-13 Rising Stars hurling team lost by a late goal away to Naomh Eanna last Tuesday night. The under-15 footballers played Our Lady's Is/St Fintan's last Monday.

Rackard League

The Scoil Mhuir Rackard League team lost 1-9 to 0-7 to Ramsgrange in a play off for the B quarter finals and will now take part in the Rising Stars. The Mini 7's football team will play in the semi-final after the Hallowe'en break.

St Leonards

Cards

Winners of the cards in St Leonards hal last week were; Dave Walsh, Mai Dunning and James McDonald. Four teams finished on 11 game to claim second and third prize money. They were; Nicholas Doyle, Johnny Flynn, Seán Colfer and Brendan Colfer, Larry Larkn, and Alice Gaffney, and Kathleen Cadogan, Willie White, Luke Power and Andy Reville, Joan Fardy and Michael Murphy.

The last game draw winners were Billy Shannon, Paddy Murray and Peter Stafford.

The raffle winners were Aidan Colfer, Luke Power, Michael Murphy and Joan Fardy.

The cards continue every Saturday night at 8.30 p.m. Sharp.
